The Product
Yoroi is a non-custodial browser and mobile crypto wallet for the Cardano ecosystem, used by over 1 million users worldwide. It allows users to securely store assets, manage tokens and NFTs, and stake ADA without running a full node.
The Problem
The wallet creation flow was confusing and failed to clearly communicate one of the most critical concepts: the recovery phrase is the only way to access the wallet. As a result:
Around 30% of support tickets were related to users losing their recovery phrase
Many users dropped off during wallet creation
Security-related copy was unclear and easy to skip
Users made mistakes during the phrase confirmation step
My Role
Senior Product Designer focused on onboarding and security-critical flows.
Led user research and usability testing
Analyzed support data with Customer Success
Facilitated ideation workshops and defined new onboarding flows
Designed the new recovery phrase experience
Partnered closely with Product and Engineering through implementation
Participated in QA across platforms
Outcomes
Support tickets related to lost recovery phrases dropped from 30% to 10%
Wallet creation completion increased by 3% in the first month
Drop-off during onboarding decreased by 15%
Users reported the flow felt clearer, faster, and more trustworthy
Reduced friction for both users and the support team
